Trinket of the Tiny
For today's rare magic item, we present you with the Trinket of the Tiny! This tiny-sized trinket lets players interact with tiny creatures in a plethora of diverse options. The item resembles the Collar of Domestication in that it specifically deals with beasts, a criminally neglected monster type. Where the collar explores the trope of dominating a beast, this item takes a more wholesome angle! It instead allows players to engage with a community of tiny critters depending on the beast depicted by the trinket.
Let's take a look at how this item accomplishes that. A person attuned to the Trinket of the Tiny can verbally communicate with all tiny creatures, and tiny creatures of the kind represented by the trinket are friendly to them unless you harm them. Besides these passive effects, the trinket has 7 charges that recover at dawn. You can spend 1 charge to summon a familiar as determined by your specific trinket or to cast the tongues spell on a tiny creature. If you spend 2 charges, you can summon a swarm of tiny creatures, once again dependent on your trinket, that disperses after a minute or when they are reduced to 0.
We love this item. Beasts are a monster type rich with lore and symbolism throughout history that can greatly inspire our fantasy settings. Giving players this trinket allows them to directly intertwine themselves with these animals leading interesting and alien lives. Think of all the folktales of humans that get intertwined in the mysterious worlds of beasts; this trinket can be the gateway to such a tale! We hope you make all sorts of tiny buddies with this tiny trinket, and we'll see you next time!
